The Population Studies and Surveillance Department conducts population-based research on cancer risk factors, prevention and screening. It also conducts cancer surveillance, monitoring and reporting on patterns and trends in cancer risk factors, incidence, mortality, prevalence and survival in the general population and select subgroups. Many of the studies conducted in this department are funded, in part or in whole, by organizations such as the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the National Cancer Institute of Canada, and the U.S. National Institutes of Health.
