With the growing and aging population, Ontario faces an unprecedented increase in the number of people living with and dying from cancer. The best way to get the upper hand on cancer is by preventing it in the first place.

Nearly 50% of cancers can be prevented through healthy eating and active living, as well as through regular cancer screening and the implementation of health-promoting policies.

Cancer Care Ontario provides leadership in understanding and developing strategies and policies to address cancer risk factors, concentrating on the most well-established cancer risks – smoking, obesity and physical inactivity.

Cancer 2020 is a call to action to achieve targets for decreasing cancer incidence and mortality in Ontario by the year 2020.
