Cancer Care Ontario’s Cancer Drug Benefits Navigator (CDBN), formerly known as the Cancer Drug Assistance Program (CDAP) has ceased operations as of June 30, 2009. All patients enrolled prior to June 30, 2009 will continue to receive support until their case is closed. For patients and family members who do require additional assistance navigating the drug reimbursement system, please talk to the pharmacist in your hospital or talk to your care team for advice. CBDN was created in April of 2006, when there was an unmet need to provide central support to patients trying to figure out how to pay for their cancer drugs. Since CDBN was piloted three years ago, participation in the program has been very modest and has steadily decreased. This is largely because better drug reimbursement advice is now available for patients in hospitals by direct care teams.
