Cancer Care Ontario works with our partners throughout the cancer system to make sure that programs and treatments are based on the best available evidence so that patients can receive the best possible care and have the best possible outcomes.

Guidelines and standards are used to guide the delivery of high-quality patient care. Based on the best and most current evidence, they provide explicit recommendations for patient care and goals for quality and performance. Guidelines and standards also drive improvements in the system, including increasing access. As well, guidelines and standards can be used as benchmarks to measure the performance of the cancer care system.
