Psychosocial Oncology and Palliative Care Pathway
The Pathways provide an overview of the evidence-based best practices for the management of patients in Ontario during a specific phase of the cancer journey. The Pathways were developed according to an iterative and multidisciplinary process which emphasizes evidence-based medicine and incorporates input from leading experts. Please see below for the list of experts involved in the development of Psychosocial Oncology and Palliative Care Pathways.
While every effort should be made to deliver care in concordance with these pathways, it is important to note that the circumstances of individuals may vary. It should be understood that factors including comorbidities, contraindications and patient choice may result in deviation from the pathways.
Disclaimer: The pathways are intended to be used for informational purposes only. The pathways are not intended to constitute or be a substitute for medical advice and should not be relied upon in any such regard. Further, all pathways are subject to clinical judgment and actual practice patterns may not follow the proposed steps set out in the pathways. In the situation where the reader is not a healthcare provider, the reader should always consult a healthcare provider if he/she has any questions regarding the information set out in the pathways. The information in the pathways does not create a physician-patient relationship between Cancer Care Ontario (CCO) and the reader.
