Patient Education Program

The Patient Education program aims to improve the experience of people and families living with or recovering from cancer. We do this by:

  • Advancing the quality of patient education services throughout Ontario;
  • Enhancing and developing patient education skills and knowledge among cancer care providers; and
  • Ensuring that patients and families have access to information, tools, skills and support throughout their cancer experience.

The patient education program spans the full continuum of cancer care – from screening to survivorship and end-of-life care.

New! The Patient Education Program is launching the Your Learning Matters Survey! CLICK HERE to find out more.

Your Learning Matters - A Patient & Family Education Survey

At Cancer Care Ontario (CCO), we believe patients and their caregivers deserve the best cancer education.

From November 2015 to January 2016, CCO is rolling out the Your Learning Matters survey in partnership with the regional cancer centres and the Walker Family Cancer Centre. The 10 question survey will help us to:

  • Understand the type of education and information that patients and families received
  • Understand if and how this information helped patients and families through the cancer experience
  • Identify gaps in cancer education

If you are currently in, or have gone through the cancer system as a patient or caregiver, and would like to participate in the survey, please speak with the Patient Education staff your local cancer centre. You can also email the CCO Patient Education Program at: PatientEducation@cancercare.on.ca
